Stop, Wait, Walk, Don’t Walk, Danger, No Entry. These are just a few of the messages we are confronted with daily. When I see a 'Wet Paint' sign, I know I shouldn't, but I just have to touch it. So when the boffins in the studio (us) were tasked with coming up with an idea for a new local business push, it was clear that we needed to attract and keep the attention of passers by. When you consider The Queen and Phillip passed by in their Bentley back in Jubilee year, the possibility of Richard Branson skateboarding past was no longer a fantasy.
The task at hand
Being located right in the heart of Solihull and surrounded by countless businesses and thousands of passing vehicles each week, JM Bailey decided it was time to tap into this endless stream of would-be clients. We were briefed with not only letting our neighbouring businesses know that they had a full service marketing creative agency on their doorstep but also getting the attention of passing businessmen and capturing new business. It was decided we needed something that would instantly grab and resonate.
We are on the market
I, as you, may also own your own house. I am perfectly happy there and dont plan to move in the next ten years. But if i see a ‘For Sale’ sign, I just have to look, i am immediatly drawn to the property. So here comes our Eureka moment. A ‘For Sale’ sign outside our offices, ‘For Sale’ - Creative Design. The morning came and out he went. It seemed as if everone who went past looked, some stopped and we had to turn down six first day viewings within the first week. Then it happened just as we planned, for the price of a few hours brain power, a bag of nails and some harboard - a new business meeting was born.
Not that we want to blow our own trumpet ‘Du du du da da’, we were told that it was just the kind of forward thinking and clever marketing that the business in question was looking for. Hopefully it will be the start of a long lasting relationship. In these times of uncertainty you just can't wait for business to fall into your lap - you have to be innovative, creative and make people realise they cant possibly continue to trade without you.
We might put up the ‘For Sale’ sign again one day. It has proved as successful as our milk bottle collar as we strive to have what everyone want’s - a great year.
In the meantime I might see if our M.D goes for my ‘We need to go for worlwide domination’ brainwave, and that handing out flyers in Rio de Janeiro is the way forward. Now where is that suncream?
